Working with leading suppliers

New materials have come along with new ways of installing them.  Great strides have taken place with liquid membranes, Single Ply and bituminous materials. Mells Roofing continues to embrace the best of these for the benefit of our customers.

ICOPAL_logo_100mmThis year we have moved forward with the fast growing Liquid Membrane sector and have formed a new relationship with Britannia Paints as well as continuing to work with liquid systems offered by Kemper, Icopal and Sealoflect.  We completed an important waterproofing contract for Southend Borough Council when we recovered around  2000 sq. m of roofing over their council offices.  Working with Britannia, we proposed their Roofshield 20 liquid system in a colour especially made for the council.  This colour closely matched the patina of the original copper faced membrane we were covering.  The council were delighted with the result as well as the 20 year guarantee.

Our PVC Single-Ply partnership with Soprema has gone from strength to strength.  Laying their Flagon PVC membrane has brought new business in the new build sector.  Their 20 year guarantee and their highly respected and quality product, is a real winner.  Two of our employees have completed their apprenticeship with Single Ply membranes and now have an NVQ as well as completing a training course with Soprema.LOGO SOPREMA SAS RVB 300DPI

EPDM Single Ply rubber is an important system to Mells as it is a robust alternative to PVC.  Our partnership with Carlisle brings a major advantage to Single Ply as it is compatible with lead and bituminous systems and has a life expectance of around 50 years.  Laid in a similar way to PVC with hot air welding, it is suitable for new build and refurbishment alike. Mells have completed a number of important contracts, both new and old, with rubber Single Ply.

POCB is another Single Ply membrane which is very tough and robust. This product is marketed under the name ‘Universal’.  It is well liked by the Ford Motor company where we have laid around 4000 sq. m this year.  We also specified it on a new build project in Westcliff for a building which was rebuilt after a serious fire.  Mells Roofing laid the original roof to this building in the 1930s and have now completed the waterproofing to the new construction.  Much of the roof was overlaid with paving on support pads and so a robust material was needed.   Universal Single Ply was chosen.

All our Single-Ply systems are laid using hot air welding and bonded in cold adhesive or mechanically fixed.  All are supported by 20 year warranties.
