Company History
Although
felt roofing materials have been available in this country since the
turn of the century the majority of the companies in the flat roofing
industry have been established only in the last 30 years. Since John
Mell founded us back in 1883 in the East End of London, buildings have
changed and the technology keeping them weathertight has moved on.
Consequently a family-based company with more than 100 years of flat roofing experience can justifiably claim to be able to offer rather more than the average local roofing contractor.
In
fact one of the earliest contracts of which Mells Roofing has recorded
proof was the laying of a new roof on the Palace Theatre in Cambridge
Circus, London in the 1890s. Since that time developments in both building
design and roofing materials have called for an increasingly wide range
of skills and technical knowledge on the part of the specialist roofing
contractor.
